Look! Here is the mud of the purple clay teapot!
This is the most famous purple sand mine in China, located in Huanglong mountain in Yixing Jiangsu.
The formation of mineral materials in the purple clay pot takes about two to three hundred million years at least, and cannot be regenerated as a resource.
The mud need weather in the open air, exposed to the wind、rain、sun, snow and natural oxidation.
In theory, the longer the weathering, the better the effect. The process of refining mud is actually very important.
In the past, we used stone mills to grind, and now someone use machines to replace to show a better state.
When blending the clay: add water to the ground mud and stir continuously to mix them well, allowing them combine fully and evenly, giving it a superior plasticity
Throughout this process, no substances other than water are added to the clay.
Some dishonest manufacturers might add excess water to increase the weight and volume of the clay, followed by chemical additives to achieve vibrant color effect
Through experience, we have concluded that the optimal ratio is 20% of water and 80% of clay.
Then pour the mixed clay into a vat to filter out impurities and allowed to settle for a while.
At last, pack them into bags and allowed to dry naturally.
